TELEHANDLER TRAINING – GOLD CARD

The Gold Card, has been developed by the Telescopic Handler Association of Australia (TSHA). The Gold Card Training Program has been designed for people needing to develop the skills and knowledge required to operate Telescopic Materials Handlers.This program is designed to assist in meeting employers obligations under the WHS regulations to ensure employees are provided with training and instruction.  Applicable to – Non slewing telehandlers, jib activities less than 3t lift, telehandlers fitted with a boom basket where the length is less than 11m. (These would require High Risk License for crane. Eg CN, C2, WP)

Course Duration –      6-8 hours depending on class size, past experience, attachments being trained.

Location –     Manitou Centre Sydney

Class Size – 2 to 6 students

Requirements 

  • Students must be over 18 yrs, and have current photo proof of ID, such as drivers licence
  • Reasonable English skills for reading and comprehend course material and verbal instruction.
  • PPE – hard hat, hi viz, safety shoes / boots, gloves

  • INTRODUCTION, LEGISLATION AND REQUIREMENTS
  • PLANNING AND PREPARING FOR WORKING WITH A TELESCOPIC HANDLER
  • SITE INSPECTIONS AND RISK ASSESSMENTS – IDENTIFYING AND CONTROLLING HAZARDS  
  • CONDUCT TELESCOPIC HANDLER PRE-OPERATIONAL CHECKS  
  • SELECTING, REMOVING AND FITTING ATTACHMENTS  
  • OPERATE TELESCOPIC MATERIALS HANDLER  
  • USING TELESCOPIC HANDLERS FITTED WITH STABILISERS  
  • DRIVING TELESCOPIC HANDLERS ON PUBLIC ROADS  
  • STABILITY TRIANGLE AND LOAD CHARTS  
  • SHUT DOWN AND SECURE THE TELESCOPIC HANDLER  
  • CONDUCT HOUSEKEEPING ACTIVITIES AND SECURE THE WORKSITE

EWP TRAINING – YELLOW CARD

The Yellow Card, has been developed by the Elevated Work Platform Association of Australia (EWPA). The Yellow Card Training Program has been designed for people needing to develop the skills and knowledge required to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs or commonly known as EWPs). This program is designed to assist in meeting employers obligations under the WHS regulations to ensure employees are provided with training and instruction.  Applicable to – Various categories are available, with the most common being SL (scissor lift) and BL (boom lift). However if you are required to operate a boom lift with a platform height greater than 11m, you will need a High Risk Licence for WP.

Course Duration –   6-8 hours depending on class size, past experience, equipment being trained.

Location – Manitou Centre Sydney

Class Size – 3 to 8 students

Requirements:

  • Students must be over 18 yrs, and have current photo proof of ID, such as drivers licence. A restricted license is available for students 16 and 17 years of age
  • Reasonable English skills for reading and comprehend course material and verbal instruction.
  • PPE – hard hat, hi viz, safety shoes / boots, gloves

    • PLANNING AND PREPARING FOR WORKING WITH AN EWP
    • SITE INSPECTIONS AND RISK ASSESSMENTS – IDENTIFYING AND CONTROLLING HAZARDS  
    • HARNESS INSPECTION AND CORRECT FITMENT
    • CONDUCT PRE-OPERATIONAL CHECKS  
    • OPERATE EWP SAFELY  
    • RESCUE AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
    • SHUT DOWN AND SECURE THE EWP  
    • CONDUCT HOUSEKEEPING ACTIVITIES AND SECURE THE WORKSITE

    HIGH RISK LICENCE – WP Class

    Course Duration –  3 days (two days of training, and 1 day HRW Assessment)

    Location –  Manitou Centre Sydney

    Class Size – 5 to 10 students (minimum class of 5)

    Outcome –  Upon successful completion of the SafeWork NSW assessment, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment is issued TLILIC0005 – Licence to Operate a Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (boom length 11 metres or more) and a High Risk Work Licence (class WP) will be issued by SafeWork NSW once the application is submitted to Australia Post*.

    Applicable to – Boom type EWP with platform height greater than 11m – eg – Self Propelled Boom, Trailer Mounted Boom, Truck Mounted Boom, Rail Mounted Boom, Spider Boom

    Requirements 

    • Students must be over 18 yrs, and have 100 points identification as per Safe Work NSW.
    • Reasonable English skills for reading and comprehend course material and verbal instruction.
    • PPE – hard hat, hi viz, safety shoes / boots, gloves

    Content:

    • INTRODUCTION, LEGISLATION AND REQUIREMENTS
    • PLANNING AND PREPARING FOR WORKING WITH AN EWP
    • SITE INSPECTIONS AND RISK ASSESSMENTS – IDENTIFYING AND CONTROLLING HAZARDS  
    • HARNESS INSPECTION AND CORRECT FITMENT
    • CONDUCT PRE-OPERATIONAL CHECKS  
    • OPERATE EWP SAFELY  
    • RESCUE AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
    • SHUT DOWN AND SECURE THE EWP  
    • CONDUCT HOUSEKEEPING ACTIVITIES AND SECURE THE WORKSITE

    Course Duration –  3 days (two days of training, and 1 day HRW Assessment)

    Class Size – 5 to 10 students (minimum class of 5)

    Applicable to –  Forklifts other than – order picker, reach stacker, telehandler

    • Students must be over 18 yrs, and have 100 points identification as per Safe Work NSW.
    • Reasonable English skills for reading and comprehend course material and verbal instruction.
    • PPE – hard hat, hi viz, safety shoes / boots, glove
